Our Story

Street Corner Kitchen has been curated to bring the best taste of claypot to customers. Using 3 different types of oils and rice cooked with broth instead of water, along with a claypot sauce consisting of over 10 ingredients, the finest taste is guaranteed. This collection of claypot flavours is rarely found anywhere else, and is presented in a comfortable and modern setting with simple lines and cozy ambiance.

A brief introduction to claypot rice

Originating from Guangdong, claypot rice has existed for so long that it has no definite date for its first appearance. Nonetheless, it has been around for thousands of years, serving as a comfort food. The claypot rice today continue to echo its ancestors, particularly in its cooking methods — in a clay pot, cooked over charcoal. The warmth it brings as a comfort food has allowed it to gain popularity all around the world, eventually becoming a common sight in Southeast Asia.

Classic flavours of claypot rice include traditional wax meats and pork ribs marinated in fermented soybeans. For a good pot of claypot rice, it is essential to choose the best rice as well. At Street Corner, we choose to use a fragrant long grain rice, which has a distinct taste and carries the richness of the broth well. After boiling the rice until half-cooked, we add the marinated meat of choice and pour a special sauce along the side of the pot. This sauce is handmade with over 20 different spices and 3 different oils right here in the kitchen. The heat then forms a crust of rice at the bottom known as 锅巴 (guō ba), adding to the fragrance of the dish.
